Two Motown Groups Share One Bayside Stage

The Temptations and The Four Tops play Humphreys Concerts By the Bay, a marina stage on Shelter Island.

⚓ A Sunday by the Marina

🎙️ Two Catalogues, One Bill

The Temptations and The Four Tops came out of the same Detroit label within a year of each other and have toured together for decades. Both carry catalogues most of the room can sing without prompting. Each group plays a full set with a shared band behind them. Choreography still runs through the Temptations set rather than being dropped for the seated years, which is the detail regulars come back for. The pairing runs as one evening rather than a support slot.

🌅 The Venue on the Water

Humphreys puts a stage in a marina courtyard with boats moored a few metres behind the back rows. You come in from Shelter Island Drive and take an assigned seat rather than choosing one. Servers work the aisles before the music starts. Boats anchor just outside the fence to listen from the water, which is visible from most of the seats. The set finishes early enough to leave the island before the road backs up.

🧥 Timing, Layers, and Fit

The show starts at 7 30 in the evening on Sunday, September 20, at 2241 Shelter Island Drive. Bring a layer, the marina cools fast once the sun drops behind Point Loma. Parking on the island fills before the doors. Plan an early arrival or a rideshare instead. Seats here are assigned rather than general admission, which removes the reason to queue. It suits anyone who wants soul catalogues played outdoors. If you were after a standing show, this is not that.
