Two Martinis Down Commercial Street, Then Provincetown's Tea Dance

A guided walk through Provincetown's maritime and bohemian past, with a cocktail at the start and another midway.

Sip two martinis down Commercial Street before Tea Dance.

Provincetown keeps its seafaring past, an art colony and its queer history on one long street, and most visitors walk the whole thing without knowing which door held what. This tour puts a guide next to you for that walk and a drink in your hand for most of it.

The shape is plain. You meet in front of Cannery Wharf Park, walk Commercial Street with a guide for ninety minutes, and finish at the Boatslip's open-air dance party. Two cocktails come with the ticket. The walk runs private, which makes the group whoever books with you, up to fourteen.

Two versions of the ticket sell. The base one covers both cocktails, and the other adds a slice from Spiritus Pizza with a choice of cheese, Greek or pepperoni. Both sit in the mid range for a guided walk with drinks included, and the gap between them is small.

Departures run Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 4:30 PM. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the walk.

The First Drink Comes With the Harbor

The meeting point is in front of Cannery Wharf Park, a small public patch on the harbor side of Commercial Street. The guide gathers the group at the park and walks everyone to the first bar, so the park is the address that matters. The operator is Provincetown Walking Tours, founded and run by Cathy Crisafulli, a local guide the reviews name by name.

The first cocktail is poured at The Harbor Lounge, a Cape Cod blueberry vodka lemonade martini in a room the operator describes as full of nautical relics with the water in view. The second arrives partway along the route, an espresso martini at Bubala's. Those two are what the ticket covers.

What You Pass Between the Two Drinks

The middle of the walk is the history. Lopes Square holds a ten-and-a-half-foot anchor cast in 1801 that came up in a dragger's nets off Chatham in 1959 and never left. The Unitarian Universalist Meeting House is 1847 Greek Revival, with a Christopher Wren steeple added about a decade later. The Old Colony Tap has poured since 1937, and the driftwood and salvaged life preservers inside were carried in by fishermen from the 1950s on rather than built into the place. The Atlantic House, known as the A-House, traces to a 1798 wing, and Tennessee Williams once scribbled lyrics there for the jazz singer Stella Brooks.

The Provincetown Library is a former 1860 church with a half-scale schooner, the Rose Dorothea, standing inside the reading room. The operator's own route description has the group passing these landmarks, while the booking listing has it stepping inside the library and the Old Colony. Treat any indoor stop beyond the two cocktail bars as a bonus.

How the Walk Ends

The last stop is the Boatslip Resort and its Tea Dance, an afternoon party on an open deck above the water. It has run since the early 1970s, and the deck fills from four o'clock for about three hours.

The booking listing still names Bubala's Restaurant as the end point, which is where the second cocktail is poured rather than where the walk stops. Travellers who have taken it describe the guide walking the group over to the Boatslip at the finish. Departure is 4:30 PM and the walk runs ninety minutes, which puts you on the deck with the dance still going.

Who Can Book, and What Sits Outside the Price

The walk runs private. No stranger joins your booking, and a single traveller is enough to run it. The age floor is 21, set on the booking page itself, and a younger traveller cannot be added to the party. A booking takes up to fourteen people. The operator rates the route as suitable for all fitness levels, and service animals are allowed.

Gratuities sit outside the price. Booking closes two hours before departure, and confirmation is instant. Public transport runs close to the meeting point.

📍 The group gathers in front of Cannery Wharf Park at 387 Commercial Street, on the harbor side of the road.

Free cancellation runs out 24 hours before departure. Lock the date once the weather looks settled, then show up at 4:30 with the harbor in front of you and let the walk carry you west into the evening.
