Two Hours of Live Music and the Stories Behind It
A resident show on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach: a live band, a full cast, and the history behind the songs they play.
Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre stands at 701 Main Street in North Myrtle Beach, toward the ocean end of the street. The resident production is called Music and Memories. A full cast sings out front while a band plays behind them.
The room was built in 1989 by Calvin Gilmore, who started the Carolina Opry, and it opened as the Celebrity Theater with a variety show called the Dixie Jubilee. A church held its weekly services here from 2006. Rowles was first offered a job in this building in 1991, playing pedal steel in Gilmore's band, and he reopened it under his own name in 2024.
The theatre bills the show as performance plus the stories behind the music, so songs tend to arrive with their history attached.

Performances are ticketed by date and seat, one ticket per traveler. The seat comes in an air-conditioned room, and a single booking can carry up to fifteen people.

The theatre calls this a one hundred percent live production, with singers out front and a working band behind them.
Garden & Gun, putting together a Myrtle Beach bucket list, called the place a nostalgic showroom experience with family-friendly performances and timeless hits from decades past, and led on its vintage Vegas charm.
The listing carries 389 ratings at an average of 4.97.
One Sitting Covers Several Decades

Country sits alongside pop and rock. Christian numbers get their own stretch of the evening, and a medley of television themes turns up inside the same two hours.
The theatre has added a monthly tribute format, where each month the cast works through a different genre or style. Its own event listing also states that no two shows are ever quite the same, so the month sets the theme and the night fills in the rest.
A Myrtle Beach local reviewing the show in October 2025 wrote: "The four main musicians are so talented and the personal stories they tell before singing the songs add so much. Yes, the jokes are corny but I still laughed til I cried."
Who the Room Is Built For
The auditorium seats 793. Children are ticketed from ages four to sixteen, and infants under four sit on an adult's lap. The theatre calls the whole production family friendly and asks parents to weigh the start time and the running length against their children's evening.
The building is wheelchair accessible. Handicap and companion seating is reachable from the front door and the lobby, there is a family bathroom large enough for an assistant, and staff will store walkers, canes and mobility equipment. Service animals are welcome. Amplified hearing devices go first come, first served, and the theatre asks guests to request one at the time of booking. Handicap parking runs along the front of the theatre and down its south side.
Come Early for the Pre-Show
Doors open at 6:00 PM and the pre-show starts at 6:30, half an hour before the 7:00 PM curtain. The theatre invites the audience to order a drink and an appetizer while the pre-show plays. Turning up at showtime means it has already gone.
The concessions counter carries cookies, popcorn flavors and candy, with beer, wine and wine cocktails alongside Coca-Cola products, water, sweet tea and coffee. Outside food and drink stay outside. Merchandise is sold inside the building and nowhere online.
On dress, the theatre asks for date night appropriate: not formal, and not couch potato either.
The theatre is both the meeting point and the end point, so the evening begins and finishes at 701 Main Street. The box office answers from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, and guests can be dropped at the front doors.
Most performances are evening shows, with the occasional afternoon date on the calendar, so the date you pick decides the hour. A booking made through this listing can be cancelled up to twenty-four hours ahead for a full refund.
The listing runs the show at two hours, with a twenty-minute intermission inside it. It lets out onto Main Street, beside the Spanish Galleon the theatre calls the home of the shag, with the sand waiting at the ocean end of the block.
