Two Hours at Lady Liberty, Then Ellis Island, Privately Guided
A guide meets your group on the Custom House steps and stays all the way through Liberty Island, the ferry, and Ellis Island.
Everyone reaches Liberty Island on the same ferry. What changes here is who walks it with you. This is a private booking. One guide, your group only, from the meeting point in Battery Park to the last stop on Ellis Island.
The tour runs four hours and roughly half of that sits on Liberty Island, which is enough time to walk the full base, look up from more than one angle, and hear the story of a gift of friendship from France that turned into the shape everyone pictures when they think of New York Harbor.

The booking covers the guide, the round-trip Statue Ferry ticket, and admission to both islands. Gratuities are separate, and pedestal or crown access is not part of it. Prices move with the date and the size of your group, and the number you see at checkout is the number you pay.
Private Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island TourFour hours with a private guide. Statue Ferry ticket and admission to both islands included. Meets in Battery Park.www.viator.comWhat Two Hours on Liberty Island Cover

A Statue City Cruises ferry is the only way onto the island, and everyone rides it. Boats leave from two places, The Battery in Manhattan and Liberty State Park in Jersey City. This tour boards at The Battery. Screening happens on the Manhattan side before you board and works like airport security. The time printed on a ferry ticket is when you join that line, and that line can run an hour or more on summer weekends and holidays. Pepper spray, razor blades, and knives the park classes as weapons all get turned away at screening, and Battery Park has no lockers to leave them in. Bags have to clear an x-ray opening of 24.2 by 17.9 inches, and suitcases are refused outright.
Once you land, the time is yours at walking pace. The guide covers the grounds, the pedestal from the outside, and the star-shaped fort walls the statue stands on. Pedestal and crown access are not included in this booking. Neither can be added once you are on the island, and crown slots go months in advance.
Thirty Minutes on Ellis Island, and How to Stay Longer

The itinerary gives Ellis Island thirty guided minutes. That is how long the guided portion runs. The island stays open past it. The tour is scheduled to end on Ellis Island, and the guide will either walk your group back to Battery Park or explain how to return on your own, which leaves the museum visit as long as the day allows.
The building you walk into processed arrivals from 1892 to 1924. More than twelve million people came through it. The Registry Room upstairs is where the inspections happened, and it is open. Parts of the museum around it are shut for now: Peak Immigration Years on the second floor, sections of Through America's Gate beside it, and the third-floor changing gallery. The ground floor is running in full.
Where You Meet, and What the Guide Is Holding
Meeting happens on the steps outside the north entrance of the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, the building that also holds the Museum of the American Indian. It is the entrance with the four statues, the side that faces the buildings of Manhattan and has its back to the water. Your guide waits there with a white flag with a blue checkered border.
Battery Park and Castle Clinton, the old harbor fort at its edge, are both on the route before you board. Castle Clinton opened as Castle Garden in 1855 and took in more than eight million arrivals over the following thirty-four years, the immigration station that ran before the one you are sailing out to see. Guides work in English, Italian, French, and Spanish.
Access, Pace, and the Two-Person Minimum
A booking needs at least two travelers, and one booking can hold up to fifteen. Confirmation is instant. The cutoff is twenty-four hours before the start time, and the same twenty-four hours applies to cancelling for a full refund.
The route is wheelchair accessible end to end, including the transport, and service animals are welcome. Infants ride in a pram or stroller. There is a moderate amount of walking on hard ground. Wear shoes you can stand in for four hours. Anyone under eighteen needs an adult of at least twenty-one along.
Total time runs about four hours and flexes with the ferry schedule and how long you linger on Ellis Island. The ferry decks sell snacks and coffee, and each island has a cafe. Photography is allowed throughout; tripods and monopods are not.
The tour ends on the island. The return leg is already on your ferry ticket, and boats run about every twenty minutes. When the guide says goodbye, the Registry Room and the ride back across the harbor are still in front of you.
