Two Free Noon Hours at NYU Stern: Marketing, Then Venture
Two student clubs at NYU Stern have each booked a single hour at 44 West 4th Street this fall, and both are free. The marketing club takes September 30 to get its members ready for the recruiters coming to campus. The venture capital club takes October 7 to open its bootcamp with the basics.
September 30: one hour on handling the recruiters
The Graduate Marketing Association has the noon hour on the 30th, in the Kaufman Management Center, room M5-75. The official description runs to a single line: how to prep for the upcoming corporate presentations. The listing names its audience as part-time, focused, and full-time MBAs, and the organizer on the record is the club's own knowledge management chair, Ana Schonander.
Corporate presentations are the formal end of Stern recruiting, where companies come to campus to introduce themselves. The club's events page describes the looser version too: sessions built around one topic, such as a case study on a product re-launch or an acquisition. The club puts its own membership at more than 500 students.
Thirty-six people had registered in mid-September. The hour ends at 1 PM.
October 7: the venture capital club starts at zero
The Private Equity and Venture Capital Club opens its VC Bootcamp with a session it calls VC 101. The record gives one line of description: learn how venture funds work, generate returns, and invest across the startup lifecycle. The room is still posted as a dash, so the street address is all there is until the club fills it in.
The listing files the hour under Educational/Awareness and names nobody as a speaker. Thirty-nine people had registered in mid-September, three more than the marketing session had. Same noon slot, same building, same single hour.
What the two official listings actually say
Both events sit on the Stern CampusGroups portal, and the records are short.
- Both are marked FREE, with no ticket tiers and no price anywhere on the page
- Both carry the same sentence: this event is open to specific members only, and you need to sign in
- The sign-in comes first. Registration happens after it, and neither record posts a deadline
- Neither page names a speaker, a panel, or a company
If you are outside Stern, the sign-in is where you stop.
One plaza, two doors, one room still blank
- The Kaufman Management Center is at 44 West 4th Street, facing Gould Plaza
- Room M5-75 is the posted room for September 30
- October 7 carries the same street address with no room attached
- Tisch Hall fronts the same plaza at 40 West 4th Street, under the Stern lettering
- Both hours run 12 PM to 1 PM, Eastern
The glass rotunda is the Kaufman entrance, and it faces the plaza head on. Gould Plaza sits between the two buildings, and at noon in early fall it is the easiest place to wait.
