Twentieth Street Recreation Center
4.6 (159)gym
A 1908 bathhouse turned rec center where original woodwork meets a boxing ring that once hosted Muhammad Ali.
Description

Twentieth Street originally opened to provide downtown residents lacking modern plumbing with showers and a pool, logging over a million visitors in its first six years. Traces of that era remain embedded throughout the building, from hexagonal floor tiles and dinged brass stair-rails to the original front desk and a manual 1949 scoreboard.
Alongside a pottery studio, the facility holds a storied pugilistic lineage, having hosted pro fighters Sonny Liston, Ron Lyle, and Mike Alvarado. Today, the ring continues as an active community space for new, veteran, and fitness-inspired boxers across Denver.
