Tranquillity Park
4.3 (1,248)park
A downtown park honoring Apollo 11, sculpted into a lunar landscape with sunken walkways and rocket-like fountains.
Description

Opened in 1978 adjacent to Houston City Hall, the 1.57-acre park draws its design directly from the Sea of Tranquility. Sited atop an underground parking garage and surrounded by civic and cultural buildings, the space pairs lush greenery with bronze plaques inscribed with Neil Armstrong's historic words commemorating the July 20, 1969 moon landing.
