Before setting out, the North Mountain Visitor Center offers displays, tours, classes, and workshops exploring local Sonoran Desert plant and animal life. The surrounding network fans out for casual walkers, trail runners, and mountain bikers across routes of varying difficulty. Wildlife along the trails is notably accustomed to people and unbothered by passersby, keeping desert sightings frequent despite the preserve sitting squarely within the city.
