Trade Screens for Sand: A Guided ATV Hour in Apalachicola National Forest
A guide leads you out of Silver Lake onto sandy forest trails after a safety briefing, with stops for photos along the way.
ThrillTrek Adventures is a Tallahassee outfit that takes first-timers and experienced riders alike into the Apalachicola National Forest, west of the city, on full-size 4WD ATVs.
Every ride starts at the Silver Lake OHV Trailhead. Visit Tallahassee notes it is the only trailhead on that trail system with ATV access, and the system runs 56 miles through the Munson Sandhills. The same guide describes the trails as mostly smooth, sandy and flat.

Two options, both priced per ATV: USD 125 for one rider, or USD 175 for two riders sharing a machine. Rides start on the hour, on Friday afternoons from 4:00 PM and on weekends from 11:00 AM. All 8 reviews on this listing give five stars.

ThrillTrek asks riders to arrive at least 30 minutes early for check-in, waivers, helmet fitting and the safety briefing. Late arrivals can miss their slot, and a missed slot is not refunded.
No experience is needed. The orientation covers how to operate the ATV and how to ride a trail, and the guides set a comfortable pace for the group. The minimum age to drive is 16. Passengers under 18 ride with a parent or legal guardian, and every rider and passenger signs a waiver.
Sand, Mud and Photo Stops

Expect sand, dirt and, depending on recent weather, puddles or mud. Asked whether riders get dirty, ThrillTrek says it is likely. Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty or muddy.
Phones stay away while you drive: texting, filming or using a phone while operating the ATV is not allowed. The guides stop at scenic spots so you can take photos safely. Follow the guide and stay on the designated trail. Riders are financially responsible for damage caused by reckless riding or ignored instructions, and ThrillTrek can end a ride early, without a refund, for anyone who breaks the safety rules.
One Rider or Two
Book one rider per ATV to drive the whole hour yourself, or two riders per ATV to share one machine. Shared rides cap at 10 travelers.
ThrillTrek recommends a maximum rider weight of about 350 pounds, and does not recommend the ride for anyone who is pregnant, recovering from recent surgery or carrying a significant injury. The listing adds spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health and children 4 or younger.
That same listing also ticks wheelchair access, strollers and infants riding on an adult's lap. Those sit oddly beside its own under-5 advice and appear nowhere on ThrillTrek's pages, so ask the operator before booking if any of them applies to you.
Booking and Weather
Confirmation is instant. Have proof of your booking ready at check-in. On this listing, cancel at least 24 hours before the start for a full refund. Inside 24 hours there is no refund. ThrillTrek's own published policy uses a 48-hour cutoff.
Rides go ahead rain or shine. Heavy rain, severe weather or unsafe trail conditions can still delay, reschedule or cancel a ride for safety.
