4.4 (51)attraction
This bronze tribute to the Haitian Revolution leader anchors a Little Haiti pocket park where the neighborhood gathers.
Description

Commissioned by the local Haitian Bicentennial Coordinating Committee and sculpted by Miami artist James Mastin, the memorial was erected in 2005 to honor Louverture’s pivotal role in Haitian independence and the abolition of slavery. The surrounding grounds offer a relaxed neighborhood backdrop with benches, picnic tables, and free-roaming roosters. Beyond everyday downtime, the plaza serves as an assembly space for community actions, from earthquake commemorations to independence rallies.
