Tokyo Style Ramen and Donburi From the Counter

Counter seats put the ramen prep in full view, in a small uptown room made for solo bowls and casual dates.

Try Tampopo Ramen uptown.

🍜 From Prep to Bowl

Grab a counter seat at Tampopo Ramen and the whole show plays out in front of you, as the kitchen in this small Washington Heights shop turns out Tokyo style ramen and donburi. Spicy miso and shio bowls lead the menu, both with tender pork, while rice bowls, garlic edamame, and crisp chicken karaage fill out the rest of the order.

The drinks hold their own, with a sake collection and specials like a white negroni. The room is small, new, and relaxed, which makes it a natural pick for a quick solo bowl or a low key date where the food does most of the talking.

Tampopo sits at 823 W 181st St and serves from noon until 10 PM Sunday through Thursday, staying open until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday for a later bowl. Start with the spicy miso, add karaage for the table, and let the sake list decide how long you stay.
