Description

Donated to Portland in 1940 from an early family settlement, the park balances neighborhood footpaths with active creek restoration. Paved and unpaved trails cut beneath big-leaf maples and alders that shelter owls, kingfishers, and woodpeckers, with late-spring warblers and grosbeaks filling the upper canopy. Ongoing community care helps sustain returning salmon, beavers, and amphibians along Johnson Creek, while volunteer days and seasonal nature walks provide structured ways to explore and support the habitat.
