Snakes & Lattes to Margie's Candies
🎲 Eight hundred games, and someone to teach them
Snakes & Lattes keeps over 800 board games, and Game Experts are on hand to recommend titles and explain rules. Thursday brings the Social Game Night, 6 to 10 p.m., billed as a way to meet new friends over board games; you can RSVP ahead or walk in. Participation requires a $7 game fee or a $7 minimum food and drink purchase, paid at the venue. Tables run to a two-hour limit, and payment is card only.

🍨 A soda fountain that opened in 1921
Margie's Candies has stood on this corner since 1921 and is still run by the same family, four generations on. Its menu lists the Hot Fudge Sundae at $8.95, the banana split at $12.95, and shakes at $6.50. It is a sit-down parlor with vintage booths, not a walk-up window. Bucktown hours run until at least 11 p.m. on Thursdays, leaving time after a 10 p.m. board game finish.

🚶 One minute between the two
The two doors are a minute's walk apart: Margie's on the corner of Western and Armitage, Snakes & Lattes on Milwaukee just around it. On Thursdays the game night runs 6 to 10 p.m., while other weeknights open at 5. The Western Blue Line stop is steps away, so play first, eat second and settle your game fee or food tab at the door.
