From Huguenot Cemetery to the Castillo

The listing opens outside Huguenot Cemetery, where 19th-century yellow fever burials inspired local ghost tales. From there the route passes beneath the Old City Gates and looks at Tolomato Cemetery from outside. Then come Casa de Sueños, the building once home to Scarlett O'Hara's, the bayfront Casablanca Inn and Harry's.

After Flagler College, the walk takes in the Penny Farthing Inn, the St. Francis Inn, the González-Álvarez House known as the Oldest House, Bayfront Marin House, Margaret's Manor and the former Casa de la Paz. The Agustin Inn comes last before the final stop outside Castillo de San Marcos.

It is an exterior-view walk, and no building interiors or attraction admissions are included. The lighthouse story is told from downtown. The lighthouse itself, on Anastasia Island, is not part of the route.

Star-Crossed Lovers, a Party Guest and a Grumpy Ghost

At the St. Francis Inn the track tells a tale of star-crossed lovers. Bayfront Marin House has its spectral party guest, the former Casa de la Paz its phantom cries and the Agustin Inn a grumpy ghost. Harry's bayfront building carries the tales of Catalina and Bridgette, and the Casablanca Inn its Prohibition-era bootlegging lore.

Flagler College, the former Ponce de Leon Hotel, gets two stops: one for the ghost lore around Henry Flagler, one for the spirits said to haunt the college. Along the way the app also tells the strange legend of the St. Augustine Monster.

The operator describes the tracks as professionally produced, with eerie music and cinematic sound effects. Replying to a 2024 review, the person answering for the operator called it one of their favorite tours to voice.

What Walkers Say About the App

A July 2022 reviewer said the phone vibrated in hand just before each story began, which helped in the noisier spots. An October 2025 reviewer walked it on a busy Sunday afternoon and found the narration hard to follow among so many people and vehicles, but noted that the information is all transcribed so you can read through it later.

The low scores are about setup. A June 2022 reviewer had trouble finding the app instructions and had playback stop midway. The operator replied that an interrupted first download is the likely cause and that reinstalling the app fixes it. A June 2023 reviewer found the app hard to navigate and said it led the group into alleys and out to the bridge. Across seven reviews, the listing averages 4 out of 5.

Download Before You Reach the Gates

Bring a charged smartphone or tablet. Download the tour over Wi-Fi before you set out, after which it works offline. The operator asks for a strong Wi-Fi or mobile data connection while it downloads. Headphones are optional, and the audio can play through the phone's speaker.

The listing describes an outdoor walk on historic streets where some surfaces and attraction interiors have limited accessibility. A closed building along the way does not stop you completing the route. There is no in-person guide or transport, and the fort's interior is not part of the ticket.

📍 Start at the corner of W Castillo Drive and S Castillo Drive, just north of the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center. The pin on this page marks Castillo de San Marcos, where the walk ends.

Through this listing, cancelling at least 24 hours before your booked date gets a full refund, and later cancellations get nothing back.

The final story plays outside the fort, close to the corner where you started.
