Three Ways Into the 9/11 Museum, Priced at the Source
The museum itself sells timed entry, a flexible day pass, and a guided hour. Which one fits depends on who is coming.
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is one of the few New York landmarks where the building is the artifact. The galleries sit 70 feet down in the original World Trade Center foundations, spread across 110,000 square feet, with the slurry wall that held back the Hudson exposed along one side.
Ninety minutes is the honest planning number. That is the figure the museum uses for its own timed visits, and two galleries take most of it: In Memoriam, which names 2,983 victims through portrait walls and recorded memories, and the historical exhibition that rebuilds the day from news footage, air traffic transcripts, and recovered objects.
Between them sit the pieces people describe afterward. The crushed Ladder 3 fire truck. The Last Column, carried out of the site covered in the tributes recovery crews wrote on it. Bent steel from the floors the planes struck.

The listing is operated by the National September 11 Memorial & Museum itself, and the pricing follows. Timed entry runs 24 to 36 dollars by age, the same band the museum publishes on its own site, and the guided version runs 48 to 60.
Ratings pool from two platforms: 4.7 across 3,031 Viator reviews and 4.8 across 3,644 on Tripadvisor, 6,675 in total. They describe the museum visit rather than a separate operator handling it — the ticket and the museum share one owner.

Entry is at street level, through a glass pavilion holding two 80-foot steel tridents salvaged from the north tower facade. From there the route descends, past the Survivors' Stairs that hundreds used to get out, down to bedrock.
The guided option adds a museum staff member and 24 dollars over timed entry for one hour. A visitor answering the guided-or-not question on Yelp described what that hour buys: "The tour tells a story, from the beginning of the museum displays, to the end." Answers on the other side of the same thread preferred moving alone and setting their own pace in each gallery.
The middle path costs 11 dollars. Audio guides rent at the box office and the Concourse Lobby desk, narrated by Robert De Niro, in nine languages including American Sign Language.
The plaza above costs nothing

The memorial plaza is free and open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Two reflecting pools fill the tower footprints, bronze parapets carry every name, and the Survivor Tree stands among the oaks, a Callery pear pulled from the rubble in October 2001 and returned here in 2010.
The plaza audio guide is free as well. It runs 40 minutes through the Bloomberg Connects app, narrated by Anthoula Katsimatides, a New Yorker whose brother John was killed in the attacks.
The museum below is the paid half. Monday evenings from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM are free, with tickets released on the museum's own site each Monday at 7:00 AM Eastern, first come, first served.
Three tickets, and the family math
- Timed entry: 36 dollars for adults, 30 for youth 13 to 17 and seniors 65 and over, 24 for children 7 to 12. Half-hour slots from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Flexible entry: 56 dollars, one price for every age, valid any time on the date you pick.
- Guided tour with admission: 60 dollars for adults, 54 for youth and seniors, 48 for children. Slots from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
The flat rate on the flexible ticket is where families lose money. Two adults and two children pay 120 dollars on timed entry and 224 on flexible. That option earns its price when your day cannot be pinned to a half-hour slot, and not otherwise.
Children 6 and under enter free on all three.
Security, bags, and the rules inside

- Photography is permitted for private, non-commercial use only
- Phone conversations are not allowed in the exhibition spaces or the theater
- All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible, strollers are fine, and service animals are welcome
