Three Outdoor Evenings in Austin

Three Austin evenings built around being outdoors: a lantern parade at the German Free School, an MLS night at Q2 Stadium and a Colombian rock anniversary show at Scoot Inn.

Three outdoor plans in two weeks.

🏮 Nov 7, A Lantern Parade at the Free School

The St. Martin’s Umzug walks the German Free School grounds with handmade lanterns, song and storytelling, a tradition carried over from the Rhineland. Arrive before the light fades so you can watch the lanterns being lit. It is a family-paced evening rather than a performance, and the grounds do most of the work.

⚽ Nov 7, Austin FC Under Lights

Austin FC hosts the Portland Timbers at Q2 Stadium on Saturday Nov 7, an MLS match with an evening start on the card. It lands on the same evening as the lantern parade, so the two are alternatives rather than a route: take the stadium or take the parade.

🎸 Nov 19, Aterciopelados at Scoot Inn

Aterciopelados bring the La Pipa de la Paz anniversary tour to Scoot Inn on Thursday Nov 19 at 5 pm, three decades of Colombian rock in one set. It is the band's own headline night, worth clearing the calendar for. Get there for the first song rather than the last.
