Three NYU Club Events, From Craft Table to Ken Langone
The hosts are a sorority chapter, an engineering society, and four Catholic student groups at once, close to the full range of an NYU club week.
NYU's club calendar lives inside Engage, which means it is mostly visible to people already looking for it. Three listings sit in the stretch from Thursday the 24th to Monday the 28th, and they have almost nothing in common besides the university.
Two are in Brooklyn, one on the Tandon campus and one on a public lawn nearby. The third is in the Village. All three are listed Public on Engage, and all three flag free food.
Thursday evening, a bottle and a sheet of paper
Alpha Omega Epsilon takes the Makerspace Foyer for an hour. The listing runs one sentence: come join the sisters to write or draw on papers to put in a bottle. Free food and merchandise are both flagged on the event.
The host is an engineering sorority, which explains the venue. Alpha Omega Epsilon began in 1983 with women engineering students at Marquette who wanted more women in the field, and the NYU chapter dates to February 2016 with 23 founding members. The room is NYU's MakerSpace at 6 MetroTech Center, a working shop with 3D printers and milling machines. The foyer sits at the front.
Saturday at noon, four hours on the Cadman Plaza lawn
NYU's chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers brings games and a food table to Cadman Plaza Park, twelve to four. The listing promises friendly competition and delicious food, which is about as specific as it gets.
The chapter is old. It was founded in 1979 at what was then the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, now Tandon, and Field Day comes back on a rhythm: the spring edition ran the same noon-to-four on May 2.
Four hours is the longest window of the three, and this is the only one outdoors. Cadman Plaza is a city park, a short walk from the Tandon buildings, and the lawn is there whether you sign up or not.
Monday at 5:30, the Home Depot co-founder
Ken Langone, who co-founded The Home Depot, sits for a fireside chat at the Catholic Center at NYU. The stated subject is what carries a career besides technical skill: integrity, work, and the decisions that accumulate along the way.
He is an NYU alum, Stern MBA class of 1960, and NYU Langone Health carries his name. Anyone who has read that name on a hospital building will be in a room with the person behind it. The center books guests like this fairly often, including the actor David Henrie earlier this month.
Four Catholic student groups have their names on the listing. Only this one publishes a way to RSVP. It is on the ground floor at 238 Thompson Street.

Before you go
All three listings live on NYU Engage, and Engage is thin about the things you would most want to know.
- Engage carries no price field, so none of the three states a cost either way
- The Monday RSVP is a form hosted on monday.com, linked from the event description
- Neither the Thursday nor the Saturday listing says anything about registering in advance
- The Thursday listing gives a room name and no street. NYU Tandon's own page puts the MakerSpace at 6 MetroTech Center, Jacobs Hall
- Cadman Plaza Park and 6 MetroTech Center are both in Brooklyn. The Monday chat is across the river in the Village
The Catholic Center is the only one of the three hosts that states its events are open to the public. For the Thursday and Saturday listings, contact the hosting club through its Engage page a day or two ahead if you are not an NYU student.
