Three Hours at the Met After Work, Dendur to Krasner

A three hour plan for the only two nights the Met stays open until nine, built around three galleries and one exhibition.

Start at 81st St or Great Hall.

🎨 Four Art Stops In Three Hours

Friday and Saturday are the only nights the Met stays open until 9:00 PM. Here is the suggested 3-hour route:

• 6:00–6:40 PM | The Temple of Dendur (Gallery 131): Enter at 81st St (accessible ground-floor entry) or the Great Hall, then follow museum signage northward through Egyptian Art straight to the glass Sackler Wing.
• 6:40–7:10 PM | Egyptian Galleries: Walk southward back through the chronological tomb and relief galleries toward the Great Hall.
• 7:10–7:40 PM | Greek and Roman Sculpture (Gallery 162): Cross south through the Great Hall into the two-story sculpture court.
• 7:40–8:30 PM | Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous (Gallery 899): Take the elevator or the grand staircase near European Paintings up to Floor 2 Modern & Contemporary Art. Gallery 899 is on Floor 2 and clears prior to 9:00 PM closing; prioritize this exhibition first if arriving later in the evening.
• 8:30–9:00 PM | Buffer & Departure: 30 minutes reserved for transitional walking between wings, museum store browsing, and departing before final building clear.

Note: Timings are suggested and adjustable by pace. Pay-what-you-wish admission is available at ticket desks for NY State residents and NY/NJ/CT students with valid ID (general admission $30).
