Description

Between 1845 and 1847, Henry David Thoreau built a small cabin in this woodland clearing, living by himself to write and reflect on nature and society. Today, the site is marked by a granite foundation and a cairn of stones left by visitors paying tribute to the transcendentalist author. A walk through the woods here remains peaceful and reflective, centered on the historic cabin ground and the stones left behind.
