A Little Tokyo Dive Bar Has Digital Portholes
Sip with a charitable twist at The Mermaid, which supports a different nonprofit each month.
🌊 An Undersea Detour
Behind the strip mall setting, The Mermaid turns a night in Little Tokyo into an undersea detour. The 50 seat bar sits inside Honda Plaza at 428 E 2nd St, with a teal lit grotto atmosphere tucked into the neighborhood. Palm wallpaper and dangling seaweed give the room its aquatic theme.
Digital portholes join screens playing looping mermaid footage, keeping the ocean imagery moving around you. The drinks follow the theme too, with names including The Spritz. Happy hour runs until 8 PM, making an early evening round part of the plan.
The bar opens daily at 6 PM and closes at one forty AM the following morning. Entry is free. There is also a community thread beneath the nautical setting. Each month, the venue donates to a different charity or nonprofit, adding a changing cause to the cocktail routine.
