📚 A Table for Translation

192 Books gives your next reading choice a little room to wander. At 192 10th Ave in Chelsea, the bookstore pairs art books and literary fiction with works selected for lasting value. The shop opened in 2003, and its range stretches from poetry, film, and history to science and literature for children. Bring a particular subject in mind, or start with a section you rarely browse.

An entire table is devoted to internationally acclaimed translated works rarely stocked in American stores. That is the place to linger over a writer unfamiliar to you, with space to sit down and read before choosing a title to take home.

There is a spoken side to the shop, too. It hosts free evening author readings and artist discussions, with limited seating available in arrival order and no reservations. Plan around the event you want to hear, and leave time to browse. Regular hours run daily from 11 AM to 7 PM.
