The Underground Lounge

Set inside the Links Hall Theater building on Newport, this long-standing basement refuge is reached by descending rickety wooden stairs. The subterranean space features a scuffed black-painted cement floor, a cement vault stage, an L-shaped sofa, arcade games, and a glass-block enclosed pool room. Operating since 1996 among surrounding sports and LGBTQ+ friendly bars, the venue hosts live goth, metal and industrial acts, DJs, and a dance floor, alongside casual chats with bartenders about punk and metal music.
