Description

Overlooking Washington, D.C., the memorial has served as a resting place since 1921. At its center stands a white marble sarcophagus carved with figures representing Peace, Victory, and Valor on the front and three wreaths on each side panel. Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment ('The Old Guard') maintain the continuous vigil, defined by the disciplined cadence of the 'Walk' and the formal Changing of the Guard ceremony.
