Description

Known as the “King of Country Music,” Roy Acuff presided over the Grand Ole Opry for 50 years. Following the death of his wife Mildred in 1981, the Opry established this residence for him on the grounds in 1984. The setting placed Acuff only paces away from the Opry stage—his longtime second home—keeping him rooted beside the auditorium and the adjacent Opryland theme park until his death in 1992.
