The Red River Stage Where Touring Bands Break Big

Touring bands and cocktails fill an indoor room and a tiered outdoor stage in Austin's Red River district.

🎸 The Red River room

Mohawk is a live-music venue at 912 Red River Street, in the heart of Austin's Red River Cultural District. The room opened in 2006 and runs two stages, an intimate indoor floor and a tiered outdoor deck that stacks sightlines above a corner stage.

Touring acts and local bills fill the calendar most nights, and during SXSW the patio turns into one of the district's busiest showcases. The tiered decks help, letting latecomers catch the band over the crowd as the bar pours cocktails and Texas beer.

The outdoor stage sits below the elevated frontage road, giving the sound a hard downtown backdrop. Between sets, the metal stairs and string lights turn the deck into a place to regroup before the next act.
