Description

This Grade I listed hall is the last surviving example of the great 18th-century northern cloth halls, built for the trade in handwoven textiles that powered the West Riding's pre-industrial economy. Today its vast courtyard hosts independent shops, bars, and a major open-air music venue, with the spire visible behind the stage. Summer concert staging can somewhat mask the historic ambiance, but the varied shops with friendly staff and reasonably priced food still draw visitors.
