Description

From 1788 to 1927, the property served as home to presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, First Ladies Abigail and Louisa Catherine Adams, Civil War diplomat Charles Francis Adams, and historians Henry and Brooks Adams. Inside, original belongings anchor the story of the household's public service. Just outside, the 1873 Stone Library holds more than 12,000 books owned by the family, while the surrounding grounds open into a historic orchard and an 18th-century style formal garden planted with thousands of flowers.
