The Met and MoMA After Dark: Late Evening Museum Hours

Both landmarks hold their doors open past the usual closing time on select evenings. The Met runs until 9:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, while MoMA extends to 8:30 PM on Friday. A late arrival trades the midday rush for calmer galleries and low evening light.

Galleries here stay open until 9:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, and the museum closes on Wednesday. After dark, the Temple of Dendur, the Egyptian wing, and the European paintings draw thinner crowds than a weekend afternoon.

The Museum of Modern Art
Mon – Thu, Sat – Sun, 10:30 – 17:30; Fri, 10:30 – 20:30

On Friday, MoMA runs until 8:30 PM, and the modern collection spans painting, sculpture, film, photography, and design. The glass front on 53rd Street glows against the dusk, and an evening visit means a slower walk through the galleries with fewer weekend crowds.
