$4.00 – $6.00
A 1930s art colony shaped by Mayan Revival concrete reliefs, quiet garden courtyards, and rotating exhibitions.
Description

Founded in 1937 by artist, architect, and writer J. André Smith as the Maitland Research Studio, the grounds now operate as a National Historic Landmark campus. Along with handcrafted decorative concrete blocks and immersive gardens, the property supports working creators through studio artist residencies and hands-on art classes. That lineage stretches back decades, with courtyards and galleries that once hosted renowned artists including Milton Avery, Ralston Crawford, and Doris Lee.
