Ten rescued historic buildings in a downtown park trace Houston's path from frontier cabin to 20th-century oil boom.
Description

The society began in 1954 when Houstonians mobilized to rescue the 1868 Kellum-Noble House from demolition. That initial save eventually expanded into an enclave of nine more historic structures relocated from across the region, including the Old Place cabin. Beyond the architecture, a museum gallery preserves more than 23,000 artifacts documenting local life from the early 1800s to the mid-1900s, interpreted through rotating exhibits and guided tours across the park grounds.
