The Harvard Lowell Lecture Hall
5.0 (1)theater
This 1902 hall pairs a 352-seat auditorium with piano-equipped rooms, hosting campus lectures and student performances.
Description

Designed by architect Guy Lowell as a gift from Professor A. Lawrence Lowell, the building was known as the New Lecture Hall until its 1959 renaming. After sitting vacant for twenty years and suffering severe water damage, it underwent an award-winning 1994 restoration by Robert Olson and Associates.
Outside weekday class hours, the hall turns over to rehearsals for faculty- and student-led performance groups, with recognized student ensembles staging evening productions on weekends. Downstairs, five lower-level classrooms accommodate smaller groups of 22 to 24 in seminar and tablet-desk layouts.
