Description
Known formally as the National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, the site sits minutes from downtown Portland. At the base of the rock face, the lower alcove shelters a replica of Michelangelo's Pietà, flanked by the Chapel of Mary, rock gardens, and outdoor shrines. Higher up, upper-level walking paths emerge to panoramic views of the Columbia River Valley and Cascade Mountains.
