Overlooking Elm Street in Dealey Plaza, this small slope remains an enduring focal point of JFK assassination history.
Description

Topped by a 5-foot wooden stockade fence on the street's north side, the rise took on historical significance during the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy, when many eyewitnesses believed at least one shot came from this area to the right front of the limousine. The phrase itself was coined by Press International reporter Merriman Smith, who was riding in the motorcade. Today, the site sits adjacent to The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, drawing visitors who explore the surrounding historic district.
