The Formosa Cafe
4.3 (882)restaurant
A 1939 Hollywood haunt built around an authentic 1904 red trolley car, serving Chinese-American classics and cocktails.
Description

Restored by the 1933 Group, the space sits directly across from the former Samuel Goldwyn studio, drawing on its history as a hangout for Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, and Elvis Presley. Inside, red leather booths and walls lined with autographed celebrity photos surround the centerpiece trolley, confirmed to be the oldest surviving red train car in existence. The venue also preserves the historic Yee Mee Loo bar area, spotlighting Chinese-American influence in early Hollywood, with a menu featuring dim sum, dumplings, and wok-fried noodles.
