Description

Local residents rescued and restored the funicular in 1963, keeping its original wooden cable cars running daily between West Carson Street and Mount Washington. The ride takes just a minute or two. At the upper station, 400 feet above the meeting point of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio rivers, an open deck overlooks the city. Inside, visitors can view the operating 1877 hoisting machinery, browse museum exhibits on local and global inclines, and visit a small gift shop.
