The Broadway 50 50
4.3 (1,054)restaurant
An Alamo Heights staple since 1935, this former speakeasy draws locals for classic cheeseburgers and hearty sandwiches.
Description

Known to most simply as "The 50," the spot was originally opened by the Montanio family as an ice cream parlor and speakeasy bar. After changing operators multiple times and recovering from a fire that kept doors shut for over eight months, it has been run for a decade by P.J. and Nicole Gottsacker. Handcrafted items anchor the menu alongside standard grill orders: the Philly cheesesteak features EZE flown in from Philadelphia on Leidenheimer Baking Company po boy rolls from New Orleans, while the Cuban sandwich centers on mojo-brined pork cooked and shredded in house.
