Dating back to 1982, the complex took shape after the passage of the Artist-In-Residence code allowed creative work and living quarters inside industrially zoned buildings. Family-owned and operated from the start, the site maintains a continuous policy of renting exclusively to artists, preserving its industrial footprint as the world's largest artist-in-residence community.
