The Biltmore Tavern
4.7 (10)bar
A 1920s speakeasy turned neighborhood haunt, serving craft beers and upscale tavern fare under pressed-tin ceilings.
Description

Standing in the heart of Newton’s historic Upper Falls, the address traces its roots back to the 1700s as the Whittemore Tavern, long before reopening in 1921 at the start of Prohibition. A later renovation revived the space, bringing out wainscoting paneling and original maple hardwood flooring alongside salvaged farmhouse tables and Edison bulb fixtures. The kitchen turns out inventive takes on traditional tavern cuisine, supported by an extensive list of cocktails in an environment shaped to relax with friends and family.
