The Bike Handles the Miles From Solana Beach to Encinitas

A guided electric-bike ride up the North County coast, starting from a shop on Highway 101 in Solana Beach and working through Del Mar, Cardiff-by-the-Sea and Encinitas. The motor takes care of the distance. You still have to steer.

Ride an e-bike from Solana Beach to Encinitas.

Four beach towns sit in a row along this stretch of the San Diego County coast, close enough to string together in an afternoon and far enough apart that walking them is out of the question. Solana Beach, Del Mar, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Encinitas.

The booking page puts the ride at nearly fifteen miles and blocks out two and a half hours for it. An electric bike is what makes that arithmetic work. Every bike in the fleet has pedal assist, and some carry a throttle, so distance stops being the thing you plan around.

Check-in is at 101 South Highway 101 in Solana Beach. Look for the San Diego Electric Bike sign, which is the shop the operator recently took over and still trades under.

Much of this route runs on streets and in bike lanes. Plan on sharing road space for a good part of the ride.

What the Route Actually Takes In

The booking page lists seven points along the way, and the stop times on it are short. Fifteen minutes at the meditation gardens in Encinitas is the longest one. A racetrack in Del Mar, a Cardiff bakery the page dates to 1969, the San Elijo Lagoon, Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach and the Encinitas boathouses are listed at five minutes each, and Moonlight State Beach is marked as a pass-by.

Added up, that is roughly forty minutes of standing still inside a two-and-a-half-hour booking. The rest of it is riding.

The operator's own site says the meditation gardens happen for smaller groups, a condition the booking page never mentions. If that stop is why you are booking, raise it before you pay.

Ten in the Morning, Two in the Afternoon

One listing, two start times, and they are not the same trip. The ten o'clock departure is private, so the guide has your group and nobody else. The two o'clock departure runs as a shared group.

The morning is priced at USD 105 per adult and the afternoon at USD 95, and the fare bands underneath those differ more than the headline does. The afternoon sells only adult and child fares, so riders aged eight to eleven and under four appear on the morning booking only. The morning carries four bands, down to USD 45 for the youngest.

Either departure takes a single traveller. You are not required to bring a group to make it run.

Who Can Get On One of These Bikes

Everyone who rides has to already know how to ride a bicycle. The booking page and the operator's own site both say it plainly, and a motor does not change it. Pedal assist helps you keep going. It does nothing for balance.

Standard bikes suit riders from about five feet tall, and the booking page sets a rider weight limit of under three hundred pounds.

Children have two ways onto the trip. The operator keeps two cargo bikes that each carry two kids on the back, plus a set of child seats. The booking page puts the child-seat limit at forty-five pounds and the operator's own site says forty-eight, so ask which figure applies on the day.

What Comes With It

The bike, a helmet and a bottle of water sit inside the price. Gratuities do not.

Departures run Wednesday through Sunday, with no Monday or Tuesday ride on this booking. That was checked against the live availability calendar in early October 2026, and the booking page's own schedule agrees.

Cancelling is free up to twenty-four hours before the departure time. Guiding is in English. A phone screen is accepted at the shop in place of a printed ticket.

The last thing on the booking page's list is a pair of Encinitas houses built to look like ships. The page says they were put together out of an old bathhouse and a hotel, and that they have never touched salt water.

They sit off the coast road, the sort of thing you ride straight past unless somebody slows down and points. On a route like this one, that is most of what a guide is for.
