Description

Founded in 1973 by priest Ryokan Ara with blessings from Japanese Tendai leaders, the Jack Lane temple serves as a center for Japanese Buddhist thought and interfaith peace. The grounds feature a main hall enshrining Yakushi Nyorai alongside an Amida Hall and the Ichigu Cultural Hall. The mission also initiated the Honolulu Floating Lantern Ceremony on the Alawai Canal, held each August 15th to offer prayers for peace transcending race and religion.
