Description

Built in 1953 as a nine-hole course named Cumberland Golf Course, the site was renamed in 1969 at the request of Councilman Robert Lillard to honor Nashville native Theodore “Ted” Rhodes, whose career paved the way for Black golfers like Charlie Sifford and Lee Elder. A 1992 overhaul expanded play to eighteen holes, introducing lakes and bunkers alongside large greens that provide generous targets on approach shots. The surrounding water also doubles as an urban habitat, making it common to spot turtles, fish, muskrats, and beaver between holes.
