Description

Named for the diminutive owl that lives here, the canyon carries deep local history, having provided food and shelter for the Kumeyaay for centuries before supporting homestead farming and cattle grazing well into the 1950s. Today, the park is threaded by roughly 6.5 miles of trails shared by walkers, joggers, and mountain bikers. The on-site nature center rounds out the canyon's story with regional plant and wildlife exhibits, native gardens, and live animal displays.
