Tea Breaks from Whisked Matcha to a Museum Courtyard
Sip across three New York settings, from unsweetened drinks and fruit-based blends to wine and light bites. The stops move from traditional preparation to community gatherings and a garden pause, with sweetness and museum pricing worth noting.
Matcha, Bubble Tea, Cloister
Quiet Study, Green Rituals
Sorate sets a measured pace on East 18th Street, with dark clean walls, soft jazz, and the immediate scent of green tea. Matcha workshops and table-style tea ceremonies share the room with shelves of ceramics and retail Uji teas. Order matcha straight with water and without added sugar, or choose a latte or small dessert. Indoor seating is very limited, and laptops are not permitted. Shaded benches outside offer the practical place to finish your cup.

Queens Counter, Local Gatherings
Tea and Milk is a compact 34th Avenue stop for bubble tea, pastries, and fruit-based blends. Try the vegan mango coconut smoothie, made with real fruit, or pair a strawberry yogurt drink with pastéis de nata. Fruit teas can run syrup-forward and sweet. Their tea base may recede behind the sweetness. The shop occasionally hosts community gatherings, including AnimeNYC events. Hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, with limited outdoor seating.

Cloister Shade, Courtyard Hour
The Trie Café occupies a courtyard within the Met Cloisters, giving a museum visit an outdoor place to pause. Order sandwiches, snacks, drinks, or wine at the café counter, then sit beneath the covered walkway among planted borders. Prices carry a steep museum markup, and visitor voices can rise when the space fills. Hours are 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday through Sunday. It is closed on Wednesdays.
