Taste Your Way Around Greenwich Village in Six Stops
A guided walk past the counters locals line up for, ending on a cupcake you build yourself.
Three hours, six tastings, and one local guide for the whole way. The route runs down Bleecker and MacDougal, in and out of counter-service shops where you eat standing at the window or sitting at a wooden bench, and it ends at a cupcake counter that uses swings instead of bar stools.
The group is capped at twelve, small enough to hear the guide without crowding the doorway. Everyone gathers at one point at the start, and the walk comes back to the same door at the end.

Nice Guy Tours runs the walk. The company was started in 2014 by Dante Mercadante on the premise that New Yorkers are friendlier than their reputation, and it also runs food tours on the Lower East Side and in Astoria.
Departures go out every day of the week at 11:00 AM, 2:30 PM, or 5:30 PM depending on the day, with all three slots on Saturdays. The Viator listing carries a 4.97 average across 1,656 reviews, booking closes 60 minutes before departure, and confirmation is instant.

Faicco's opens the eating with arancini and sopressata, cut small and handed over the counter. Taco Mahal follows with tacos built on naan or roti, the Indian and Mexican crossover it has been running in the West Village since 2016. Bleecker Street Pizza serves the Nonna Maria, a thin crust with fresh mozzarella, garlicky tomato sauce, basil, and parmesan.
Mamoun's makes the falafel sandwich. It opened on MacDougal Street in 1971 and still calls itself the oldest falafel shop in New York. Pommes Frites does double-cooked Belgian fries with more than thirty sauces on the board, and the stop runs long enough to work through a few of them. Molly's Cupcakes closes it out at 228 Bleecker Street.

The Sites Between Bites

The walking half covers ground most visitors pass without stopping: Father Demo Square, Minetta Lane, Cornelia Street, Grove Court behind its gate, the oldest wooden house left in the Village, Cherry Lane Theatre, and the Stonewall Inn with its monument across the street.
75½ Bedford Street is nine feet six inches wide, usually called the narrowest house in New York. Around the corner, the Bedford and Grove building supplied the exterior for the Friends apartment, though the apartment inside was never the size of the one on screen. Cafe Wha? and the Comedy Cellar sit on the MacDougal stretch, both still working the same rooms.
Group Size, Pace, and Access
Twelve is the ceiling for a shared departure, and a single booking tops out at twelve as well. One guide carries the full three hours: the same person handles the history and the ordering at every counter. Nice Guy Tours lists its guides by name, and most of them come out of acting, stand-up, or licensed city guiding.
The pace is steady rather than fast, and each tasting is eaten at the stop rather than on the move. A guest who walked it in September 2026 wrote: "We stopped at 6 delicious spots and had more food than we could eat." Six tastings land closer to a full lunch than a snack between meals.
Nice Guy Tours lists the route as suitable for all fitness levels, with wheelchair-accessible surfaces throughout. Prams and strollers are fine, and service animals are allowed.
Washington Square Park Is the Turn
Washington Square Park is where the route opens up, and the tour stops here for about fifteen minutes. Stanford White's marble arch was finished in 1892 to mark a century since Washington took the oath of office downtown.
The park sits at the top of the MacDougal stretch, which puts Cafe Wha?, the Comedy Cellar, and Mamoun's within a block of the exit.
📍 The walk starts and ends at Molly's Cupcakes, 228 Bleecker Street, and the exact meeting instructions arrive with the booking confirmation. Everyone meets at that one point and there is no hotel pickup. West 4th Street–Washington Square and Houston Street are the nearest subway stops.
Flag a vegetarian version or any allergy when you meet the guide, not in the booking notes. Tours run rain or shine. Cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure for a full refund; inside that window there is none.
