Taking Grandma to DC's Memorials, Without the Long Walks

A private van works the Mall for you and pulls up close to the memorials, so older and younger legs only cover the last stretch.

The National Mall stretches from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial, and the memorials most families come for are spread along it and around the Tidal Basin. For a grandparent who tires after a few blocks, or a child who does, that distance decides the whole day.

This listing puts a private van between the stops. Its itinerary says where the driver pulls up: in front of the Capitol and the Supreme Court, very near the Korean War Veterans Memorial so travelers do not have to walk as much, and on H Street NW for the White House view from Lafayette Square. Your party is the only one in the vehicle, and the listing lets you pick which stops you care about.

Pickup comes to you. The listing names sixteen pickup addresses, mostly hotels downtown and on Capitol Hill, plus Reagan National Airport and six starting points in Crystal City, Old Town Alexandria, Springfield and National Harbor. The booking form asks for your pickup point. Its own note limits hotel pickup to places within two miles without saying two miles of what, so a hotel that is not on the named list is the thing to raise when you book.

Pricing is per booking, and bottled water is on board.

Where the Van Pulls Up, and Where You Still Walk

The itinerary is candid about the walking. At the Vietnam Veterans Memorial the wall sits inside the park, so you walk in from the road. The Lincoln Memorial means climbing its steps if you want the statue up close. The FDR Memorial is described as walking distance from the drop-off, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial is close enough to FDR that the two can be done as one stop.

Reviewers describe how the drop-offs work in practice. A reviewer in June 2026 wrote that the driver "dropped and picked us up at convenient locations that minimized walking", and that having their own van made it possible to bring a mother who can't walk as much as she used to. Another, in March 2025, brought parents aged 84 and 82 and noted that he pointed out where ramps or elevators were at each stop.

Three Hours Means Choosing

The written itinerary has eleven items at fifteen minutes each, one of them a drive along Pennsylvania Avenue past the National Archives and the FBI building. That is two hours and forty-five minutes before any time on the road. In three hours, something gets cut, and you decide what.

Reviewers describe how that plays out. One from November 2023 wrote that the guide spent longer at the stops they asked for and switched to "just doing drive-by at those places near the end of the tour when we were tired." Another, in March 2024, said he had "no issue whatsoever with us wanting to deviate a bit from the normal route." The operator's own photos for this listing also show the World War II Memorial, Georgetown University and the Basilica of the National Shrine, none of them on the written itinerary. Arrive with the two or three places that matter most to your group.

Who Drives, and What the Van Carries

Most reviews name the same driver-guide, Fisseha Genemo, and one calls him the owner of Easy Transport and Tours. The listing itself does not promise who will drive. The commentary is in English.

Reviewers mention bottled water, wipes, a phone charger and a vehicle that fit a party of five with room to spare. The largest parties in the reviews are families of six. If you are traveling with a baby, bring the infant car seat yourself; the listing leaves that to customers.

Start Times and the Fine Print

The listing offers eleven start times every day of the week: 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 AM, then 12:00, 1:30, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00 PM. Booking closes four hours before the start, and confirmation is instant. A mobile or paper ticket works.

Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund; inside that window there is none. The listing also lets the tour be called off for poor weather, with a different date or a full refund offered.

📍 The pin marks the Lincoln Memorial, one of the stops on the route. The tour starts wherever the van collects you, and the listing names the same six addresses for drop-off as for its starting points.

Book it early in the trip. A reviewer in February 2024 used it to get their bearings, and afterwards "we knew exactly where to go and what to see during subsequent days."
