Take Off From Compton's 1924 Airfield for the Hollywood Sign
A shared helicopter hop out of Compton that flies near the Hollywood Sign, crosses Hollywood Boulevard and ends over downtown.
This is the short version of a Los Angeles helicopter flight: twenty-five minutes, booked by the seat, with the Hollywood Sign as the headline. The listing's route runs from the sign to the theaters on Hollywood Boulevard, past the Hollywood Bowl and Griffith Observatory, and finishes over the downtown skyline. All six stops on that route are fly-bys, so nobody steps out until the flight is over.
The seller is hoper, a booking platform for helicopter flights. Its own FAQ says its tours are flown by licensed partner operators and that shared flights use Robinson R44 and R66 helicopters. Narration is in English.
The field itself has history. Los Angeles County, which has owned and run Compton/Woodley Airport since 1966, says it was first used as an airfield in 1924.

The booking card below is the listing itself. Bookings close 36 hours before each departure, so plan it at least a day and a half ahead. Confirmation is instant, and the ticket arrives by email before the flight day. As of October 17, 2026, the booking calendar showed departures every hour from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, seven days a week.

The listing puts the Hollywood Sign at the top of the route and describes flying near it for photos. From there the flight crosses to three addresses on the same stretch of Hollywood Boulevard: the TCL Chinese Theatre, the El Capitan Theatre and the shopping complex the listing still calls Hollywood & Highland. That complex was renamed Ovation Hollywood in 2022, so that is the name a map will show.
The Hollywood Bowl and Griffith Observatory come next. They are the last Hollywood-side names on the route before the flight turns toward downtown.
Downtown Towers to Finish

Downtown is the final stretch, and the listing describes it as the closing view over the skyline. It names Staples Center as the landmark to spot. The arena has been Crypto.com Arena since December 25, 2021, so look for that name on a map.
Compton/Woodley Airport sits about 15 miles south of downtown, according to Los Angeles County, which runs the field.
What the Booking Form Asks, and Why
The booking form asks for every passenger's full name, date of birth, weight and passport details. hoper's own booking terms explain the last two. On shared flights each seat is capped at 115 kilograms, passenger and hand bag together, unless the booking shows a different figure for the route. Passengers can be asked to step on a scale, and anyone over the limit, or without a valid passport or national ID card, can be refused boarding.
For tour bookings, the same terms allow one handbag or laptop bag, kept at your feet or on your lap, and no other carry-on. Seats are assigned by hoper's system, and the pilot or ground staff can move people around.
Who Books, Who Flies, What Costs Extra
One booking takes one to four travelers, and an adult has to be on it. The youngest age band starts at two, and every band is priced the same, so a child's seat costs what an adult's does. The price covers bottled water, landing and facility fees, airport and departure taxes and the fuel surcharge; tips and getting to Compton are on you.
A reviewer in July 2026 described a red carpet and champagne on the day. Neither appears in the listing's inclusions, so treat anything beyond the water as a bonus.
📍 Plan to be at Compton/Woodley Airport, 901 W Alondra Blvd, at least 20 minutes before departure. That is the lead time hoper's terms recommend, and a check-in email should arrive about a day ahead.
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund; inside 24 hours there is none, and the listing allows the flight to be called off for weather or too few travelers.
Then it is twenty-five minutes over the city, from the sign to the towers.
