Description

Sydney's conservatorium is a castle-like heritage building along the Botanic Garden walk, with several halls and teaching spaces inside. It also claims a historical first: the first conservatorium in the Southern Hemisphere. A newer addition shares Sydney's history through an old cistern, drain, and pottery pieces, along with a writeup about the Gadigal people. Beyond performances, it's worth a poke around for the building itself. Verbrugghen Hall is singled out for its excellent acoustics and comfortable seating. Regular Lunchbreak concerts on Wednesdays and Thursdays offer a free midday musical pause, with a gold coin donation suggested.
