Swap the Voucher at the Desk, Then Meet the Barosaurus
General admission to the American Museum of Natural History, exchanged for a paper ticket at the desk before you climb.
More than 40 permanent halls sit across the floors of this building, and a general ticket opens all of them with no set route and no timed circuit through the rooms.
The voucher you book is not the ticket that gets you through the door. Klook issues a QR code, the museum runs on paper, and any ticket desk inside will make the exchange. That line stands separate from the one at the entrance.
Doors open daily at 10:00 AM and close at 5:30 PM. Thanksgiving and Christmas Day are the two dates the building stays shut.

Klook lists this ticket at 4.6 out of 5 from 410 reviews, with 42,843 bookings recorded against it. Three tiers sit behind the one listing: the general ticket, the general ticket plus one ticketed exhibition, and a version that clears every exhibition running at the time.
Confirmation is instant, and same-day dates are usually still open.

The general tier covers more than 40 permanent exhibition halls, the Rose Center for Earth and Space, and the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation. The Gilder Center opened in 2023 and reads nothing like the older wings around it: shaped concrete carved into arches and openings, with sightlines cutting between floors.
The permanent halls hold what the museum is known for. Fossil mounts fill the upper floor. The Akeley Hall of African Mammals has kept its elephant group and 28 dioramas since 1936. The Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals take longer than most people plan for.
The Ten-Dollar Line

Four things sit outside the general ticket: a ticketed exhibition, the butterfly vivarium, the giant-screen film, and the Hayden Planetarium Space Show. The museum sets an entry time for each one rather than letting you drift in.
The Klook listing puts the on-site add-on at USD 10 a piece, payable at the museum. Buying a higher tier up front folds them in instead. The middle tier adds one ticketed exhibition, which currently covers Impact: The End of the Age of Dinosaurs, subject to availability. The top tier clears all of them.
Voucher holders cannot add an exhibition online. The museum handles that at a ticket desk on arrival, the same desk you were already heading to.
How Long to Give It
Visitors who logged their timings on the listing land in a consistent range. Three to four hours covers the headline halls without a march. Walking the building end to end reads as a full day, and an afternoon arrival tends to run quieter than a morning one.
The museum waives general admission for anyone entering during the last hour of the day. That buys 60 minutes against a 5:30 PM close, which suits a second visit far better than a first one.
One reviewer put the pacing problem plainly: "I highly recommend the free guided tour as well, it takes you through some of Floor 1 as well as Floor 4, and makes the huge museum a bit more digestible." That note came from a general-ticket buyer writing in October 2025.
Getting In
🚇 The B and C trains stop at 81st Street, the closest station to the building.
General admission runs on a date rather than a timed slot. The voucher does not pin you to an arrival hour. At the door the sequence is fixed:
- Present the Klook QR code at any Museum ticket desk
- Exchange it for a paper admission ticket
- Walk in on the paper rather than the phone
The voucher works on its booked date and no other. Strollers and wheelchairs go everywhere the public route goes.
