Sunset Cliffs
4.9 (2,641)park
Carved sandstone bluffs, sea caves, and cliffside trails make this a classic perch for watching the Pacific sunset.
Description

Stretching 1.5 miles along the Point Loma and Ocean Beach coastline, the 68-acre natural park frames the Pacific with arches, pocket beaches, and native coastal sage scrub. Paths draw people with chairs and blankets to take in the water, watching surfers, year-round cliff jumpers, or migrating California gray whales passing offshore. Low tide reveals tide pools and marine life along the rocks, while spring brings hillsides of wildflowers. The terrain remains wild: the crumbling sandstone cliffs lack guardrails in many areas, keeping views open but requiring a cautious distance from the drop-off.
