Sunset Behind Downtown St. Augustine, Seen From Matanzas Bay

An hour on the water at sunset, past the Castillo, the Bridge of Lions and the lighthouse, with an eye out for dolphins.

One sunset sailing a day leaves the Conch House Marina, just across the Bridge of Lions from downtown St. Augustine, for about an hour on the water.

It is a shared, covered tour boat. One booking holds up to eight travelers, and on this listing a child's seat costs the same as an adult's, infants included.

Four Landmarks, Each One Passed From the Water

The listing names four sights, and the boat passes each one without stopping: the Castillo de San Marcos, the Bridge of Lions, the St. Augustine Lighthouse and the Great Cross at the Mission of Nombre de Dios. Nobody steps ashore, and every landmark is seen from the deck. A guide narrates in English along the way. Two riders, in May and August 2026, said they struggled to hear it, one from the back of the boat and one over a loud group. Sitting forward is the easy hedge.

Dolphins on Most Trips, Never Guaranteed

The operator's FAQ says the river holds a large dolphin population and puts sightings at 90 percent of the time, while warning that wild animals cannot be guaranteed. Recent riders backed that up, with pods feeding at sunset in September 2026 and a captain who slowed and turned so a group could linger. Birds are part of it too, and one 2025 rider also saw manatees. The Bridge of Lions is a drawbridge. Three riders in 2025 and 2026 mentioned seeing it open, and one said the crew waited so passengers could watch a boat pass through.

The Departure Moves With the Sun

There is one departure a day, timed to the sunset. On the listing's calendar it leaves at 6:00 PM through October 31 and at 5:00 PM from November 2. November 1 and November 6 show no sailing. As of October 18, 2026, the listing's calendar offers sunset departures through November 20, the same last date the operator's own booking system shows. The operator says the sunset tour runs daily from February through November. December and January fall outside that season.

What the Boat Has, and What to Bring

The boat is covered, and the operator still suggests sunscreen for brighter evenings. There is a small bathroom on board, and seating is open. Bottled water is included, and the operator welcomes your own drinks and snacks, alcohol included, as long as passengers drink responsibly on what it calls a family-friendly boat. Its booking notes add that the captain will not let anyone who appears intoxicated board. Riders in March, April and August 2026 mentioned evenings turning chilly, and the crew has handed out blankets. A light layer is the easy fix. On pets the two sources differ: the listing mentions service animals only, while the operator's FAQ allows well-behaved dogs on a leash, kept off the seats.

Park free in the north lot of the Conch House, walk out the main dock and look right for a boat with a yellow-and-white or a red, white and blue top. The operator's notes say to turn right through the tiki torches beside the bar and take the ramp down. Arrive 15 minutes early. The boats leave on time and do not wait. Coming through downtown, allow for the Bridge of Lions, which the operator says opens on the hour and the half hour. The listing ticks stroller access and all fitness levels. The operator's FAQ is more specific: the ramp can get steep at low tide, there are two small steps onto the boat, and accessible parking sits near the front of the lot. A full refund on this booking needs 24 hours' notice. The listing marks the trip as weather-dependent, and the operator's FAQ says lightning nearby is what calls it off, while light rain is left to passengers. After that, the job is watching the sky go orange over the old city.
